Prerequisites: Not open to students with three or more years of Chinese in high school; students with prior studies should contact the instructor or the program coordinator prior to registration. Cannot be taken for credit after passing CHIN 1101, 1112, 1113, or 1114.

Development of ability to communicate in Chinese, orally and in writing.
